Vulnerable People and Under-Resourced Communities
September 2020 | Digital Innovation Group
The impacts of COVID-19 have exacerbated long-standing health inequities putting a growing population of vulnerable people at greater risk for poor health outcomes. Vulnerable populations and under-resourced communities, including economically disadvantaged populations, racial and ethnic minorities, the uninsured, and the elderly, experience greater barriers to social, economic, and health care resources and therefore worse health outcomes. These groups now face even greater needs as a result of COVID-19.
Health systems are faced with an unprecedented need to identify scalable solutions and business models to deliver high value care, address social needs, and eliminate health inequities for vulnerable people and under-resourced communities as a result of the economic and social challenges exacerbated by COVID-19.
